Developing Patience

I have to admit, there are days when I get tired of all the COVID stuff and just want to be done with all of it, lol.  I some days get tired of waiting for prayers to be answered and I could list other things, just as you could. But in the light of the suffering and persecution of the apostles and the early church, this is nothing. Just think of Job and what he endured!

I’m thankful for the stories of those who went before us so I can be reminded to keep things in perspective. Their faith and relationship with God kept them going. It kept them grounded. It helped them to be patient, which is something we have a hard time with in our world of instant everything.

Patience is what we’re being reminded to embrace. There is something important about developing patience that we often overlook. It’s linked to trust. It’s a lack of trust that causes us to loose patience and take matters into our own hands. When we trust God fully we can wait on His perfect timing, and develop patience, knowing He is in control of everything.

Because the Lord is merciful and kind He blesses us, often with way more than we deserve. So don’t give up. Just as God finally came through for Job, He will come through for us if we walk in patience and trust Him fully.

“My friends, follow the example of the prophets who spoke for the Lord. They were patient, even when they had to suffer. In fact, we praise the ones who endured the most. You remember how patient Job was and how the Lord finally helped him. The Lord did this because he is so merciful and kind.”  James 5:10-11 CEV
